Eastern Star Church to host healthy lifestyle expert Debra Peek-Haynes

Eastern Star Church continues its commitment to providing the Indianapolis community unique outreach opportunities with a new focus on healthy living. Heart 2 Heart featuring author and national health/lifestyle expert; Debra Peek-Haynes will take place on November 1, at noon at the churchā€™s main campus ā€“ 5750 E. 30th Street.

This free event will include cooking demonstrations, special guests and a personal testimony from Mrs. Haynes on how changing her lifestyle helped her overcome infertility. ā€œEastern Star Church strives to provide our members and the community at-large relevant information at all times,ā€ said senior pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson, Sr. ā€œTo truly be healthy you must take care of your mind, body and soul. We hope that by providing education and information through events like this, we are changing lives.ā€

Haynes, a commercial real estate broker and healthy living advocate based in Dallas, TX, is the author of ā€œThe Beginning Guide to Healthy Living,ā€ a cookbook including a comprehensive collection of meals with a healthier twist on traditional southern-comfort foods. She is also the wife of Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III, senior pastor of Friendship West Baptist Church, also in Dallas. Dr. Haynes is an annual guest preacher at Eastern Star Church.

What: Heart 2 Heart ā€“ a healthy living event with a focus on how to combat heart disease will included cooking demonstrations, and information on how to create a healthier lifestyle at any age. There will also be an author meet and greet and an opportunity to receive an autograph copy of the book.

About Debra Peek-Haynes: Over the past 20 years, Debra Peek-Haynes has conducted seminars on health and wellness across the country. Her concern regarding the wellness of others evolved from her own battle with infertility. After changing her diet and delivering a healthy baby, she became passionate about sharing her story with others. It is her goal to share her journey in the faith-based community since she is well versed in the disparity of inadequate health care, particularly among African Americans. Each week she can be heard live on ā€œTalking Healthyā€ a segment that provides health and wellness tips on KHVN-AM in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Her husband of 27 years is Dr. Frederick D.Haynes, III, Senior Pastor of Friendship West Baptist Church, a 12,000 member congregation in Dallas, Texas. She and her husband are the proud parents of their lovely daughter, Abeni Jewel.
