(CNN) — There were rumors of a split, but Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith are still doing business together. According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC has bought a multi-camera comedy from the Hollywood power couple.
The series, currently referred to as “Untitled Romeo Project,” will star Latin singer Anthony “Romeo” Santos.
Santos will play a conflicted Dominican-American man from the New York City neighborhood Washington Heights. The show will follow Romeo’s struggle to please his traditional immigrant father while entertaining his own modern American dreams.
Santos, 30, is a Bronx-born entertainer famous in the Latin music world. Romeo had a hand in popularizing the Bachata genre with his group Aventura.
In 2009, Romeo won “Favorite Latin Music Artist” at the AMAs and was invited to play at the White House.
