Police have ticketed a Michigan truck driver blamed for causing a crash that closed a section of Interstate 465 on Indianapolis’ southwest side.
Indiana State Police cited 53-year-old Bruce Christopher of White Pigeon, Mich., for operating a truck with an unsecured load.
The truck spilled its load of nontoxic liquid water treatment when it crashed at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at I-465 and I-70 near Indianapolis International Airport. Troopers say Christopher’s truck ran out of control on the ramp from eastbound I-70 to northbound I-465 and rolled, sliding across all the northbound lanes of I-465 and blocking the highway.
The crash closed the ramp and closed all but a single northbound lane of I-465. Removal of the wreckage and cleaning up the spilled chemical was expected to last into the evening.
