INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Two young children injured in an Indianapolis house fire remained in critical condition as officials continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.
Riley Hospital for Children spokesman Gene Ford says the 4-year-old Aubrey Bartles and 5-month-old Jasmine Sanders were being treated Tuesday for injuries they sustained in the fire early Monday morning. The Indianapolis Star reports the girls’ mother Teresa Miller was treated at another hospital for burns to her feet.
The children were rescued by firefighters after their mother escaped and called 911.
Indianapolis Fire Department Capt. Rita Burris says the cause of the fire hasn’t been determined. A week earlier, two men were shot to death in the other half of the duplex.
A prayer vigil was planned for Tuesday evening outside the eastside duplex.
