L.C.’s Hollowell is player of the week

More by this author

The 6-2 and No. 3 ranked (AP Poll) Lawrence Central Bears boys basketball team is led by 6’7 Indiana University recruit and Mr. Basketball candidate Jeremy Hollowell.

With a senior heavy team, Hollowell and the Bears have their sites set on playing for a state championship in 2012. Hollowell is a man on a mission this new year. He scored 38 points on Jan. 3 in an 84-78 loss to Bowman Academy and followed it up with a 36 point game in a 74-60 win against Columbus North on Jan. 6.

The swingman has great length, rebounds the ball well, and can score the basketball. There is no doubt that he is one of the most naturally talented players at his position in the class. His basketball IQ makes him an even better player while his ability to recognize defenses and his offensive skill set allow him to be a deadly threat on offense.

Games to see Jan 12-19

Jan. 14: Northwest at Tech

The 6-3 young Tech Titans are learning to play as a team and win close games. Following a 62-53 loss to Ben Davis, the Titans can’t afford a let down against Indianapolis Public schools rival Northwest. The Space Pioneers are young and play extremely hard. They will be looking for the upset against the talented and favored Titans.

Jan. 18: Pike at Carmel

The 6-3 Pike Red Devils have played inconsistent basketball thus far; they have impressive wins over Ben Davis and Lawrence Central but have losses against Muncie Central and Warren Central. They will be playing perhaps the most consistent team in the state this year in the Carmel Greyhounds. The Greyhounds are playing great team basketball and will be ready for the Red Devils’ challenge.
