Talladega (Ala.) College has been chosen to be a part of the 7th Annual production of the “Ford Black College Quiz Show.”

Alexis Tardy, a sophomore from Indianapolis, will represent the institution at the competition. Tardy is a 2011 graduate of North Central High School.

The quiz show series consists of four half-hour quiz shows that will air on television across the country between January through March of next year. The shows will feature Historically Black Colleges and Universities and predominantly Black institutions. The participants will answer questions on Black history.

Dr. Sim C. Pettway Jr., the continuing education director and Honda All-Star Challenge advisor will be the coach for Tardy. Pettway said, “I have had the honor in working with Alexis as a debate participant for Constitution Day at Talladega College in 2011 and as a presenter for the Provost Book Club. I find her to be an intelligent and tireless individual who does not shy away from challenges. Her passion for African-American history and law made her an easy choice for consideration for the ‘Ford Black College Quiz Show’ series.”

Tardy said, “I am so excited that our school was chosen to participate in the show. I look forward to a great experience. This will be very beneficial for me as a student and good exposure for Talladega College.”

Scholarships will be awarded to the student and institution that places 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the competition. Twelve students from around the country will participate.
