Family-friendly Easter activities

Springtime is here, and Easter is right around the corner! While there are several ways to celebrate the holiday — whether attending church, wearing a new fancy outfit or having dinner with family — this time of year is great for simple activities as well, like good old-fashioned Easter egg hunts. Check out this list of family-friendly and cost-effective events happening around Indy.

 

Easter Story and Egg Hunt 

Location: Living Faith Church

201 N. Girls School Road, Indianapolis, IN 46214

Time: April 8,10 a.m. 

Cost: Free

Living Faith will begin the celebration with the Easter story and finish up with a free family lunch. Bring your baskets and your loved ones. The egg hunt is limited to children ages 12 and under. 

 

Belzer Easter Egg Hunt

Location: Belzer Scout Camp

6102 Boy Scout Road, Indianapolis, IN 46226

Time: April 8,10 a.m. 

Cost: $5 per person 

The fun will begin at 10 a.m. with brunch, egg decorating and more. The camp-wide hunt will start at 11:30 a.m. 

 

Marian University Easter Egg Hunt

Location: Marian University Indianapolis

3200 Cold Spring Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222

Time: April 8, 10:30 a.m. 

Cost: Free

This “egg-cellent time” challenges hunters to seek eggs, and mascot Knightro who will be posing for pics all across Marian University’s westside campus. The festivities will begin at 11 a.m., but registration, which takes place in Alumni Hall, will start at 10:30. The event is free and open to children ages 12 and under. Lawrence United Methodist Church Easter Egg Hunt

Location: Lawrence United Methodist Church 

5200 Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46226

Time: April 15, 2 p.m. 

Cost: Free 

Children ages walking (1 year old) through 10 years old are invited to participate, and there will be a designated section for children with special needs. LUMC is accepting donations of individually wrapped candy, small prizes, plastic eggs and/or cash until April 9. For more information, contact Janet Callahan at (317) 546-1724. 

 

Hop to the Prop Easter Egg Hunt

Location: The Indianapolis Propylaeum

1410 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis, IN 46202

Time: April 15, 11:30 a.m.

Cost: Free 

Pop on down to the Propylaeum for this annual event!

 

Presidential Egg Roll 

Location: Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site 

1230 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis, IN 46202

Time: April 15, 9 a.m. 

Cost: Free 

Event will feature crafts, music and celebrations. Children will race to roll their decorated eggs through the grass, and an Easter Bunny will be on-site to cheer for the little ones. Remember to bring your Easter baskets.

 

ICT Egg-Stravaganza 

Location: Indianapolis Cultural Trail 

Time: April 15, 10 a.m. 

Cost: Free 

Organizers will have a come-as-you-please hunt along the entire Trail, but attendees who want to be a part of the three big hunts are encouraged to register online. The three organized hunts will be along the Trail in the following areas: Fletcher Place starting at Chillywater Brewery, Chatham Arch starting at Center For Inquiry #2, and Glick Peace Walk starting in front of the Cultural Trail Offices. Join other participants after the hunt at each of these areas for food, drinks, prizes and family-friendly activities. Five-thousand eggs will be hidden along the Cultural Trail. Krannert Park Easter Eggstravaganza 

Location: Krannert Park 

605 S. High School Road, Indianapolis, IN 46241 

Time: April 15, 7-9:00 p.m. 

Cost: $3 per child

Eggstravaganza will consist of two egg hunts for two age groups: a daylight egg hunt (from 7–7:30 p.m. for ages 2–6) and a nighttime egg hunt (from 8:30–9 p.m. for ages 7–12). In between the hunts (7:30–8:30 p.m.), celebrate spring with pet chicks, ducklings, cookie decorating, contests and prizes. Pre-registration is required for this event. 5,000 Eggs Easter Egg Hunt

Location: 1700 N. Franklin Road, Indianapolis, IN 46219

Time: April 15, 1 p.m. 

Cost: Free 

The Ross Foundation in partnership with Windsor Village Family Center will host an Easter egg hunt for ages 2–12. This gathering will feature live music, raffles, bounce houses, face painting, sack races, games and much more.

 

Easter Egg Drop 2017

Location: Westside Church of the Nazarene

8610 W. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46234

Time: April 16, 9:30 a.m. 

Cost: Free

In true spectacle form, Nazarene’s 2017 egg drop will be a moment you won’t want to miss. The event will begin with registration at 9:30 a.m. and a worship service at 10:30 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., 25,000 eggs will drop from a helicopter for all to enjoy. This event is open to the public but will be limited to the first 2,000 attendees.
