Harry & Izzy’s offers upscale dining

If you desire a dining experience that exemplifies class and refinement, look no further than Harry & Izzy’s.

Harry & Izzy’s is an independent, upscale American grill with three locations in Indianapolis. The downtown location recently hosted a dining experience with Rob Samuels, COO of Maker’s Mark Distillery. Maker’s Mark is a small-batch bourbon whiskey that is distilled in Kentucky. At this event, I tasted their newest creation, Maker’s 46, alongside a delicious four-course meal prepared by Harry and Izzy’s.

I had never been to Harry & Izzy’s, but I had heard great things. The restaurant has won various awards, including People’s Choice Best New Restaurant and Best Hamburger.

The service was top notch, and the food was phenomenal. I decided to be adventurous and tried roasted octopus for the first time. It was served with pork cream sauce and sweet and spicy oil. The dish was delicious, and this is coming from someone who is not typically a seafood fan. They paired it with a Redhead Martini that combined Maker’s 46, lemon juice, demerara syrup and red zinfandel. Despite each portion of this four-course dinner being served with a signature drink, the Redhead Martini remained my favorite through the night.

The menu at Harry & Izzy’s is varied enough to accommodate any taste. If you love seafood, you can try South African lobster tail or organic grilled salmon. If you want a sandwich, they have options ranging from a club sandwich to a prime steakburger. For my main entree, I had the pleasure of trying the ribeye cap. This cut of meat is known for being tastier than any other part of the steak, and it did not disappoint. I have never tasted a cut of beef so tender.

While I was at Harry & Izzy’s, I noticed a couple of organizations using the restaurant to network with peers. Harry and Izzy’s is a great place for businesses to meet up outside of their typical corporate environment, as the space allows for large group accommodations. Our group was accommodated quite nicely in a second-floor room overlooking the diners below.

For a limited time, Harry & Izzy’s is adding the Redhead Martini to its drink menu in celebration Makers 46. The cocktail is $12 and will be available at the Harry & Izzy’s until Dec. 19. And while you are there, grab a bite to eat and enjoy the experience of dining at one of Indianapolis’s most praised restaurants. You won’t be disappointed.
