Non-profit to rehab properties near 38th and Meridian

More by this author

The Bethlehem House has announced closing on three existing apartment buildings near 38th and North Meridian streets.

Two buildings on the property will become an affordable housing apartment community that will provide Bethlehem House clients with the opportunity to live independently, while having access to supportive services.

Bethlehem House’s mission is to provide services to individuals adversely affected by substance abuse, HIV and other related psychosocial issues.

Bethlehem House was awarded $8 million in federal tax credits, to be given over 10 years, from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. KeyBank has provided a $5.7 million construction loan for this community, to be called The Enclave at Meridian.

The Enclave at Meridian will be developed in partnership with Indianapolis-based Herman & Kittle Properties, Inc.

“The Enclave at Meridian is going to give our clients a safe, supportive place to call home,” said Nate Rush, executive director of The Bethlehem House. “We are so excited to be able to do that for them, while brightening up that location on Meridian Street.”

The Enclave will be located where the historic Meridian Mark and Schuylar apartment buildings are currently located. At this time both the Schuylar and Meridian Mark buildings are boarded up. The buildings will be rehabbed, while a small duplex next door will be razed to make room for parking.
