The trial of a man accused of shooting an Indianapolis police officer in the head will be held in Porter County in northwest Indiana.
Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi says the 37-year-old Brian Reese’s trial on an attempted murder charge is scheduled to begin Nov. 2 in Valparaiso, just east of Gary.
Reese’s attorney requested a change of venue earlier this month, saying his client would not get a fair trial in Marion County because of extensive media coverage of the case.
Officer Jason Fishburn was shot in July 2008 while chasing Reese on foot as part of a homicide investigation. Reese faces charges in three homicides that occurred in the days before the shooting.
Fishburn has resumed limited duties with the police department.
