WHO:

Indiana Members Credit Union is hosting this event.

WHY:

Many families face the new school year with anxiety stemming from the burden of stretching the family budget to purchase required school supplies. Children in Central Indiana are not able to begin the school year with the proper materials.

To help address these concerns, Indiana Members Credit Union established the Indiana Members Foundation to be a positive influence in the community specifically providing school children in the Indianapolis area with the necessities essential for learning and succeeding in their education.

The objective is to celebrate the start of school by providing students with new backpacks and school supplies.

This is the 11th year for IMCUā€™s Backpack Stuffing Event and will make over 26,500 backpacks filled with over 675,000 supplies that the Indiana Members Foundation has provided to children in Central Indiana through generous donations from vendors, members and employees.

ā€œIMCU was founded on the campus of IUPUI over 58 years ago, and is passionate about supporting the education system and helping children succeed in school,ā€ said Mandy Emery, vice president of community involvement for IMCU. ā€œOne way we can do this is by putting the tools necessary to succeed into their hands. We are extremely grateful for all of the support received from employees, members, vendors and community volunteers who donate their time and effort to give back to those in need.ā€
