Lilly Endowment kicks off summer youth programs

Lilly Endowment began their Summer Youth Program this week. There are nearly 200 day camps and summer programs in Indianapolis this year.

Following are some summer programs to check out.

St. Florian Center, started Monday, June 15, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

IPS Center for Inquiry School #27 545 E. 19th Street. This camp goes through July 31.Tony Williams has a long history with this program, which has collaborated with IPS schools. Tony Williams can be reached at 317-545-6580. For more information, visit http://www.saintfloriancenter.org/

Community Centers in Indianapolis: All community centers in Indianapolis have programs with IUPUIā€™s literacy efforts and Marian Universityā€™s math initiatives. Also, Gleaners Food Bank has summer weekend food sacks on Fridays to help children and their families.

Concord Neighborhood Center

Edna Martin Christian Center

St. Richardā€™s School/Horizons Program

This program started June 17. The program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school. Afternoons are filled with swim lessons at Butler University and field trips. 120 children are able to register. For more information, contact Reach Marianne Bernlohr, executive director, at (651) 792-6072.

Forest Manor Multi-Service Center

CAFƉ Indy

CAFƉ Indyā€™s summer program is seven days a week for 11.5 hours a day. This summer program is for Far Eastside youth ages 5-13. For more information, call Lisa Curran at (317)890-3288 ext. 115 or visit http://www.cafeindy.org/youth-programs.
