IndyGo announced this week Mike Birch has been selected as the new director of human resources at IndyGo.
Birch’s responsibilities include the direction, coordination, and administration of the company’s human resource policies and programs related to a variety of areas including employee and labor relations, benefits administration, talent acquisition, training and development, performance management, employee engagement and communication.
“Mike is well deserving of this promotion. He has developed a remarkable reputation among IndyGo staff, and is highly regarded by peers for his professional approach,” said Michael Terry, president and CEO of IndyGo. “His persistence and determination will enable the Human Resources Department to provide more efficient service and improve accountability.”
Birch has been with IndyGo for the past 16 years in numerous roles within the organization. He began his career as a road supervisor and has worked in a variety of positions including human resources and most recently as the director of security, safety and training in the Operations Division.
Birch said he believes that a progressive human resource department should be “customer-service based, accountable, engaging and supportive to all employees.”

IndyGo, the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corp., provides public bus transit services to residents and visitors throughout Marion County.
IndyGo has a staff of more than 460 employees, the vast majority being members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1070.
