Indianapolis, IN – April 3, 2009 – Hoosier businesses, veteran support
groups and educational institutions around the State are joining forces for a
special mission for Indiana’s veteran and active military men and womenā¦help
them find a job.Ā
In recent months, more than 3000 military men and women have returned to Indiana from a year-long deployment in Afghanistan or Iraq. These veteransĀ have had an especially difficult time as tours of duty have sometimes interrupted their careers and left them without a job.
The ‘Operation: Hire a Hoosier Vet’ Career Fair will be held from 9 a.m.
to 3Ā p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in Hangar #9 at Stout Field, 2002 S.
Holt Road, Indianapolis. The career fair is open to veterans and active
membersĀ of all four branches of the military, the Indiana National Guard and the
Indiana Reserves. All participants are asked to bring valid picture
identification inĀ order to enter the facility.
Fair organizers say there is room for up to 150 vendors at the career
fair.Ā Ā

Career fair sponsors include the Department of Veteran Affairs, Indiana
National Guard, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, U.S.
Department of Labor, Department of Workforce Development, Indiana Transition
Assistance Office and the Lilly Endowment Foundation.
The Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Tourism,
ConventionsĀ and Event Management Department is also supporting the event planning
and execution.
Some of the participating employers who will be represented at the
career fairĀ include the City of Indianapolis, Cook Inc., Fed Ex Ground, FBI, Hyatt
Regency, Indianapolis Fire Department, Marion County Sheriff’s
Department,Ā NAVSEA Warfare Centers, St. Francis Hospital, Transportation Security
Administration, U.S. Customs, U.S. Postal Service, Well Point and the VA Medical Center.
