Bodacious faith

More by this author

14 And when they were came to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

15 Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me.

18 And Jesus rebuked the devil, and he departed out of him, and the child was cured from that very hour.

19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart and said, why could not we cast him out?

20 And Jesus said unto them, because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. – (Matthew 17:14-20 KJ)

There is nothing our world needs more today than a few miracles. Not only our world, but if you are anything like me, I need a few myself. I have been teaching “faith” for the last few weeks, but not the ordinary man kind of faith that simply allows you to endure or survive. I have been talking about “sun stopping,” “moon paralyzing” bodacious faith that believes the impossible, expects the incredible and sees the invisible.

I’ve been saying that it is time to start believing God for the impossible because that is God’s speciality. The possible is something we can handle. The impossible is what God can handle. If it’s too big for me, it’s just right for God. If you are dealing with a mountain of anxiety, debt, doubt, grief, loneliness, pain and sickness, then you need to activate the God kind of faith that moves mountains like Jesus said we could.

I repeat: if your faith is not producing Bible-size results, then you are living below your privileges. Each of us is called to operate in the faith of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joshua – yes, and Jesus. Jesus said: “You will do even greater work after I am gone.”

We may not see exactly the same miracles, but God is the same … same power that stopped the sun, caused the moon not to move and raised Jesus from the dead.

Yes, we can have mountain moving, sun stopping, dead raising faith. It is what I call “bodacious” faith – it is believing God for the impossible by asking God for giant outcomes and taking giant steps as Steven Furtick, author of Sun Stand Still, says. Each day we need to remind ourselves: you have the audacity for bodacity – you have bodacious faith – act like it… activate it. Here are three steps:

(1) Get a vision for the impossible.

(2) Speak your vision.

(3) Act or activate your faith.

You may not see exactly the same miracles … but you will see new miracles and new mercies because our God is an awesome God and God never changes and Jesus never fails. “He is the same yesterday …” The same power that stopped the sun for Joshua is the same power that locked the mouths of lions for Daniel, that stepped in the fire with Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego, that stepped in the water that caused the axehead to float, and that caught Peter out of the boat, that raised Lazarus and then raised Jesus who raised Lazarus.

That same power and that same anointing is available to you. You can say, “Sun stand still, moon don’t move, and mountain get out of my way.” It’s called bodacious faith.
