Mexican contract leads to Ind. company expansion

A central Indiana company plans to hire about 200 more workers by the end of next year as its expands it business coordinating warehouse storage and deliveries for its customers.

The Phoenix Group says 75 to 100 of those jobs could be added at its operations in the southern Indianapolis suburb of Greenwood.

The company said Tuesday its expansion comes with a contract it has signed with Mexican grocery chain HEB-Mexico to coordinate the shipment of construction materials for new stores and remodeling projects. Phoenix Group plans to open a facility in Monterrey, Mexico, this month.

The company currently has about 200 employees, including 150 in Greenwood. Logistics division director Jeff Wells says the new jobs will be spread among its various locations.
