Baking workshop

Morris-Butler House will host a summer educational opportunity workshop for children. The Science of Baking workshop will be July 13 from 10 a.m. until noon at Indiana Landmarks’ Morris-Butler House, 1204 N. Park Ave.

Cost is $5 per person, one adult chaperone per group is free, and reservations are required.

Lady Syrens

The Indianapolis Tornados dance team, the Lady Syrens, will be conducting their Syrens Sweetie Dance Clinic on July 10 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The clinic, which is for girls between the ages of 5 and 18, will consist of dance sessions taught by the Lady Syrens as well as a choreographed performance by the girls for parents and friends.

The clinic will be at Lafayette Square Mall, 3919 Lafayette Rd. Registration for the clinic begins at 9:45 a.m., and the cost is $10 per child.

Nursing scholarship

WFYI Public Media is accepting applications for it’s 2010 Speaking of Women’s Health Nursing Scholarship as part of its 13th annual Speaking of Women’s Health conference and educational initiative, presented by St. Vincent Women’s Services.

The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Any applicant must be a current nursing student, and application packets must be completed and returned to WFYI Public Media by 5 p.m. on July 16.

Pacemates

dance squad

The Indiana Pacers, presented by Bright House networks, will host auditions for their dance squad, the Indiana Pacemates. Auditions will begin at 5 p.m. on July 12 and the finalists of that day will proceed to the audition showcase on July 21.

Youth to stay active

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard invites the youth to grab their helmets and bike to join him on July 10 for a 1.7-mile bike ride. The event will be July 10 at Garfield Park, 2432 Conservatory Dr., at 10 a.m.

The event is to encourage youth to be active at least an hour a day, and is free and open to all youth.
