Asante Art Institute of Indianapolis is preparing a holiday concert to celebrate the city’s rich cultural diversity and traditions.
“Joy to the World: A Holiday Concert” combines music and dance from the diverse cultures in Indianapolis to take guests on a journey of celebration and reflection. The concert is presented in partnership with Asante Art Institute and the International Marketplace Coalition and takes place at 4 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Global Village Welcome Center.
“Joy to the World” is “a step towards building a more inclusive and understanding community,” according to a press release.
The holiday concert pays tribute to the vibrant cultures and traditions of the Haitian, Chinese, Okinawan, Nigerian, Celtic and Latin communities in Indianapolis through music and dance — aligning with Asante Arts Institute’s organizational beliefs that “exposure to diverse art forms expands our worldview.”

This year, the holiday concert is also in collaboration within Asante’s innovative Prep4Life program, which focuses on nurturing the next generation of artists and leaders.
“Joy to the World” gives each of the performers the chance to reflect on their own cultural identities through music, dance and cultural exchange, therefore strengthening their sense of global citizenship, according to a press release.
