Trusting the Process (TTP), a local business founded by entrepreneur Triana “Tre” Moore, will host its inaugural back-to-school resource fair on July 26 at the Boys & Girls Clubs-Legore Unit, 5228 West Minnesota Street.
The event runs from 1ā4 p.m., offering families supplies, activities and hope
Chief Executive Officer Tre Moore channeled her turbulent past into community empowerment. A former standout basketball player at Ben Davis and Northwest High Schools, Moore’s dreams derailed after legal troubles led to incarceration.
“I was depressed, following negative people, so the negativity followed me,” Moore said.
Her turning point came after the 2012 murder of her best friend, Larretha “Lala” Draughon, and a career-ending dual ACL/MCL tear.
“I felt like I let everyone down,” Moore said, citing her mentor, Lincoln Trail College coach Chad Killinger. After expunging her record in 2022, she launched TTP’s apparel line and nonprofit, declaring: “No matter what you go through, you have to trust the process.”
Now, Moore is in a position to help the community she once caused problems.
“I want to do my part and give back when and where I can,” Moore told the Indianapolis Recorder.
The first 150 attendees receive TTP-branded bookbags with school essentials.
Moore said that in addition to the initial 150 branded backpacks, there will be a multitude of bookbags and resources available. The outing is planned to include games, an open gym, music, food, live entertainment and a bounce house.
There is no pre-registration for the event. However, on-site registration is required for entry.
Moore’s athletic journey shaped TTP’s ethos. She credits coaches like Stan Benge and Shawn Teague (father of NBA champion Jeff Teague) for believing in her. Though injuries and tragedy halted her playing career, her organization now channels resilience into youth support.
Moore’s vision is deeply personal.
“I was once like these teenagers, making wrong decisions without guidance,ā she said. āI want this to come full circle for my community.”
