Attorney Deborah Daniels will chair the committee of University of Indianapolis trustees seeking a new president for the 109-year-old institution.

The former U.S. attorney and U.S. assistant attorney general is a partner with Krieg DeVault and has served on UIndy’s Board of Trustees since 2007.

University President Beverley Pitts announced in early October that she would retire at the end of the current 2011-2012 academic year, completing seven years in the post.

The search committee also includes:

• Sue Anne Gilroy, executive director and vice president of development for the St. Vincent Foundation.

• John Myrland, pastor of McCordsville United Methodist Church.

• Ersal Ozdemir, president and CEO of Keystone Construction.

• Robert Palmer, vice president and general manager of FedEx Express.

• Yvonne Shaheen, community volunteer and retired CEO of Long Electric Co.

• Amber Stearns, news anchor and reporter with WIBC-FM.

• Robert Wingerter, partner with Ernst & Young and chair of the Board of Trustees.

Representing the university’s faculty and staff on the committee are Mark Weigand, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management, and Connie Wilson, professor of nursing.

The executive recruiting firm Korn/Ferry International has been engaged to assist in the process.
