There’s nothing I hate more than hearing a band I like is coming to town only to find out I can’t go because of ridiculous ticket prices.
Most teenagers can relate to the major disappointment of not being able to see a show due to being broke. Either we don’t have jobs or the money we do receive isn’t enough to splurge on a concert ticket even if we wanted to. This is not a complaint to our parents for not giving us enough money, although that would be nice.
However, my question is why are tickets so high in the first place? I’m sorry, but unless they were for Michael Jackson or some other legend, I’m not going to blow a wicked amount of money for concert tickets. It’s crazy how people would pay in the thousands to see someone like Beyonce. I don’t like any musician that much!
A major reason we’re getting nickel and dimed is because musicians are making up for their loss of money from CDs since most music is downloaded nowadays. Unfortunately a lot of the downloading is pirated, and the band receives nothing from it.
That means they rely on most income from concerts and merchandise. Then, they still have to pay the venue of the concert and advertising. Which is where we come in; we are the people helping fund their fat paychecks. I wouldn’t mind doing that if they actually deserved my money.
Do I like attending concerts? I love it! But I also love jamming out to my tunes at home on my computer or television screen at no expense to me.
Hopefully the majority of these summer concerts won’t cost an arm and a leg to attend, because I guarantee I won’t be in the building.
