State obtains approval for insurance exam free reimbursement for veterans

More by this author

Governor Mike Pence today announced that veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who successfully pass a licensing or certification exam administered by the Indiana Department of Insurance may now have the cost of that exam, ranging from $75.50 to $399, reimbursed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs under the GI Bill.

ā€œOur Hoosier veterans have made tremendous sacrifices to protect our citizens and defend our nation’s freedom,ā€ said Governor Pence. ā€œBy eliminating licensing exam fees to enter the insurance industry as an agent, broker or adjuster, we remove barriers to their employment, help them be more successful and improve Indiana’s workforce in the long-term.ā€

Reimbursement requests must be filed with the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs on VA Form 22-0803, which is available on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website. Veterans may also contact Chet Pietras, Deputy Commissioner of Licensing, at the Indiana Department at (317) 234-1138 for additional information.
