Individuals can read full digital copies of favorite magazines on their computer, tablet or mobile device with the free Zinio magazine subscription service now available through The Indianapolis Public Library.
As the world’s largest digital newsstand, Zinio lets the Library offer full color, interactive digital magazines that include current issues released simultaneously with print editions and available for immediate downloading. The service allows users to browse through the Library’s digital collection of popular titles with no holds, no checkout periods and no limit on the number of magazines that can be downloaded.
“We’re always looking for new ways to make the Library collection more adaptable to the way people are reading today,” said Deb Lambert, Indy Library’s Director of Collection Management. “Zinio is an exciting way to meet that need by providing full-color print magazines to patrons on their devices anytime and anywhere.”
Among the many popular titles available are National Geographic Interactive; Cosmopolitan; Billboard; O, the Oprah Magazine; Newsweek; Martha Stewart Living; Every Day with Rachel Ray; Seventeen; Smithsonian Magazine, Rolling Stone, Popular Mechanics, Women’s Health, Esquire and Road and Track.
The Zinio magazine subscription service requires the creation of two accounts – a library Zinio account to view the Indy Library’s collection and a free Zinio.com account to read magazines online or via the Zinio Reader app on a mobile device. Users can visit their device’s app store to download and install the Zinio Reader app to read magazines, or use a web browser to browse and check out new issues of Library magazines. To access Zinio, click on “eBooks & Audiobooks” from the Library’s homepage at Indypl.org and go to “Zinio.”
