As the old saying goes, “There’s more than corn in Indiana.” The welcome return of gorgeous weather has no doubt inspired us all to throw on something nice and take in the city. Read on for more info on 10 of the coolest events happening this weekend.

May 16

  • In honor of Food Revolution Day Localmotion and iImpact will host the Food for Thought open mic at the Indianapolis Worker Justice Center – 1734 W. Washington St. The open mic begins at 8 p.m. and will feature performances from Tony Styxx, Sequoia Jelks, and Kara Beth.
  • School is out and it’s time to party! Join graduates at Mediterra, located at 815 E. Westfield Blvd. in Broad Ripple, for the Kings and Queens International Grad Party. Admission is free until midnight for those with a college ID.
  • Celebrate Jazz History Month with the smooth sounds of James Tormé as he presents “Love for Sale” at the Columbia Club Cabaret, 121 Monument Circle, at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $25; call (317) 275-1169 for reservations.

May 17

  • The day is National Lemonade Day! Support local youth entrepreneurs by purchasing a glass or two in your neighborhood. Visit indianapolis.lemonadeday.org to find a stand near you.
  • Enjoy some locally crafted brews at the Sour, Wild, and Funk Fest presented by Upland Brewing Co., 2 p.m., Indianapolis City Market, 222 E. Market St.
  • The Indiana Fever take on the Atlanta Dream, 7 p.m. at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Check out wnba.com/fever for tickets.
  • Indy’s newest sports team, Indy Eleven play the Ottawa Fury FC, 7:30 p.m., at Carroll Stadium on the campus of IUPUI. For more info on the soccer team, visit indyeleven.com.

May 18

  • “Grace 2 Glory” is a new afternoon church service held Sundays at 3 p.m. at Amazing Grace Christian Church, 8550 Mud Creek Road (at Geist Christian Church). Join Pastor Jason Powell and worship leader Brian Reeves for this enlightening, elevating worship.
  • Looking to wind down from a hectic weekend? Join a few great conversationalists at Conversation and Coffee, 10 a.m., at the Center for Inquiry Indiana, 350 Canal Walk, Suite A. CFI-Indiana asks that visitors support their ongoing contribution to Gleaners Food Bank by bringing non-perishable items for donation.
  • Join DJs Rican, Steady B, and Bboy Jinx at Subterra Lounge, 250 S. Meridian St., for Old Skool Sundays at 10 p.m.
