Circle City Soul Food satisfies

More by this author

One recent Sunday after church I refused to turn on the stove to cook a full course meal, but the craving for some good old-fashioned soul food was calling my taste buds.

A friend told me about a ā€œscrumptiousā€ restaurant open on Sundays that served soul food so I headed to Circle City Soul Food to judge for myself.

There was a long line, but servers were so fast I hardly noticed the wait. When I got to the front, there were so many tempting options, I had a difficult time deciding what to order. However, the chef was very pleasant saying it was ā€œquite alrightā€ to take my time to view the menu and order. Each dinner featured an entrĆ©e, two sides, and a roll or slice of cornbread. Also, desserts, soft drinks, smoothies, sweet tea, lemonade, and bottled water were available as well.

As I made my way into the dining area, the family style seating arrangement gave me a flashback to my memories of being a 9-year-old child at my grandmother’s home for Sunday dinner. Round tables with lovely, all white tablecloths draped with lace filled the cozy space. In addition to soft music playing in my corner, there was also a television on the other side of the room for entertainment.

I tried the fried chicken with a side of southern fried potatoes and macaroni and cheese. For dessert, peach cobbler and ice-cold lemonade. The meal was very affordable and filling. The hostess was very polite to check in and ask if there was anything I needed, and to thank me for coming in making the overall experience amazing.

The menu offers a variety to choose from including Sunday meals, breakfast, lunch, a children’s menu, holiday dinners, entrees, vegetables and sides, salads, desserts, drinks, combos, family style dinners and catering.

This family-owned restaurant opened for business in late 2011 boasts a growing menu and extended hours while staying true to their motto ā€œsavory good food for your soul.ā€ I highly recommend you pay a visit to Circle City Soul Food.
