Indianapolis-based Black Men’s Group is partnering with other local organizations to host a free training day for boys 10 to 18 years old Feb. 23 at Finish Line Boys and Girls Club. The “Men-Tour Training Day Event” — in partnership with Dads Inc., EmployIndy, WisdomHolders Ministries and Overcoming Church’s M-Power Men’s Ministry — is designed to connect young men with adult men who can teach skills and impart wisdom.
There will be at least 10 interactive learning stations led by volunteers. Those include everything from the basics — tying a tie, dating etiquette and changing a tire — to the more complicated, such as handling finances and interacting with law enforcement. The event also includes a free lunch, along with inspirational speakers and other activities.
Volunteers are still needed for some of the stations. Those who do volunteer will be asked to be part of the “Wisdom Video Taping” throughout the day to share their wisdom with the young men participating in the training.
Founded in 2015, the Black Men’s Group aims to empower the Black community by focusing on four areas: community outreach, undoing racism, Black youth and social activism.
