Eastern Star Church (ESC) JEWEL Human Services received an $8.1 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. for construction of The ROCK Center for Youth and Children. The facility will be 60,000 square feet and is part of Phase II of the ESC The Rock Initiative, a comprehensive plan to revitalize the Arlington Woods community. The center will provide a safe space for youth and adults to gather.
“We are incredibly grateful to Lilly Endowment’s generous support of ESC’s The ROCK Initiative, which is committed to improving the quality of life for all residents in the Arlington Woods community,” said ESC senior pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson, Sr. “Lilly Endowment is building upon its legacy of helping the less fortunate among us. That commitment has been particularly critical during this past year as many families and individuals faced additional economic and health challenges caused by the pandemic.”
