Small businesses can learn how to increase their prospects for federal contracting opportunities. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be conducting a two day workshop for the 8(a) and HUBZone Programs at Professional Management Enterprises, Inc., 9152 Kent Ave., Building 401A, Suite 147.
Day one will consist of basic program eligibility, benefits, tips and Q&A covering both programs. Business owners may choose to attend either a 9 to 11:30 a.m. or a 1 to 3:30 p.m. session on Aug. 5.
The following day, Aug. 6 beginning at 9:30 a.m., will be used for the submission of the online portion of either or both program applications. Workshop participants will also have the opportunity to meet with a business owner who is currently selling to the federal government.
The 8(a) Business Development Program provides one-to-one executive business training, access to contracting opportunities, marketing guidance and more. The Historically Underutilized Business Program (HUBZone) helps small businesses located in distressed urban and rural areas communities gain access to federal set-aside contracts and additional subcontracting opportunities.
Registration is required by Aug. 2 for the program. Please email vernice.mathis@sba.gov or call (317) 226-7272 x111 to attend.
