Friday, July 30, 2010 11:00 AM– The 17th Annual Farewell Luncheon for the United Water Adopt-a-School Program will be held at Eagle Creek Park- The Earth Discovery Center (5901 Delong Rd). Participants of the 2010 internship program will be honored, which includes 12 Arlington Community High School students. In addition to presentations from the high school interns, United Water will also recognize the Alumni that have participated in the program since 1994. Alumni, students, parents, teachers, and the City of Indianapolis are all invited to come together in this celebration of strong community partnerships.
Adopt-a-School Internship Program: United Water adopted Arlington Community High School in 1994. Since the inception of this initiative over $1 million has been invested and more than 350 students have completed the program. More than just a summer job this program has helped change the lives of young people. United Water offers this paid eight-week internship each summer to select juniors and seniors, where they receive one-on-one training with a United Water mentor at the Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Host and Special Guests: Participants of the 2010 United Water Adopt-a-School Program will serve as hosts in the ceremony and Mrs. Elizabeth Gore, IPS Board President will make special remarks.
United Water operates, maintains, and manages the City’s two Advanced Wastewater Treatment facilities, storm and wastewater collection system and the Eagle Creek Dam.
