Indianapolis-based Adult & Child Health received the Gold-level Bell Seal certification from Mental Health America, recognizing its commitment to employee mental health and well-being.
This honor is awarded to fewer than 300 organizations each year, reflecting the highest standards in workplace mental health support.

Mental Health America, the nation’s leading nonprofit dedicated to mental health promotion and illness prevention, evaluates companies through a 54-point process. This process includes employee surveys and assesses policies, practices and benefits that prioritize mental health.
Adult & Child Health, which employs over 600 people in southern Indiana, focuses on behavioral health, primary care and substance use addiction treatment. The organization credits its recognition to a three-pronged strategy aimed at supporting employees:
- Employee Assistance Program: This program provides mental health services such as short-term counseling and referrals to providers. Employees can access up to five free in-person or virtual therapy sessions with an average wait time of just five business days.
- HOPE Taskforce: A peer-led group where non-managerial staff can openly discuss work and life stressors, share coping strategies and provide mutual support in a safe and inclusive environment.
- GROW Committee: A leadership-focused initiative that fosters support systems for managers and team leaders, emphasizing the importance of mental health in leadership roles.
Dr. Christine Negendank, regional president and chief medical officer of Adult & Child Health, expressed pride in the team’s dedication.

“The work our team members perform is challenging, but they continue to live our mission of providing access to quality care for all who need it on a daily basis,” Negendank said. “This recognition from Mental Health America is a testament to our team members and the work they do in order to make Adult & Child Health a great place to work.”
