The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Indianapolis Chapter Inc. (NCBW) will honor six outstanding women who have achieved extraordinary levels of success in their professional careers at the Tipping Our Hats to Breakthrough Women Awards brunch, April 16 at 10 a.m. at the Conrad Hotel in downtown Indianapolis.Ā
The 2011 Breakthrough Women award recipients include opera singer Angela Brown (arts and culture); social worker Mary Bullock (community affairs); Patricia Gamble-Moore (economic development), vice president of client services and community development, Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership; Diana Daniels (education), executive director, National Council on Educating Black Children; Deanna Dewberry (personal and professional development), news anchor with WISH-TV Channel 8; and Dr. Virginian Calvin (President’s Award), chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College- North Central.
“This is a wonderful tribute to women of color who have excelled in their professional careers and who continue to enrich our communities throughout the state of Indiana,” said Patzetta Trice, president of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Indianapolis chapter. “This is an exciting time for the Coalition as we honor these wonderful women for their accomplishments and we look forward to October when we host our national biennial in Indianapolis.”
