As the seasons change and the winter season approaches, it is important to maintain regular health screenings. On Nov. 2, Eskenazi Health Center Cottage Corner, the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police and community organizations will partner to present the 18th annual Eskenazi Health Center Cottage Corner Health Fair. A comprehensive team of health care professionals will be on hand to answer questions and administer free health screenings and flu shots for children ages nine to 17 and adults of all ages.
Eskenazi Health Center Cottage Corner Health Fair will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Eskenazi Health Center Cottage Corner, 1434 S. Shelby St. in Indianapolis. Health screenings provided at no cost include blood pressure, oral health and depression. There will also be information about health insurance programs, MDwise, Fathers and Families Center, infant and toddler safety, and more.
Parking and activities will also be available, compliments of the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police, located across the street from the health center. Healthy snacks will be provided by the Wishard-Eskenazi Health Food and Nutrition Services and Teamsters Local 135.
“The Eskenazi Health Center Cottage Corner Health Fair provides an opportunity for the entire community to receive free health screenings and obtain helpful advice from medical experts,” said Dr. Mark Tiritilli, chief physician executive, Eskenazi Health Center Cottage Corner. “We encourage the whole community to take advantage of a variety of information that will be available on health-related topics and screenings to improve their health.”
Wishard-Eskenazi Health will also have information and assistance available to individuals and families eligible for the state’s federally facilitated marketplace as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to aid in helping the public understand and select new insurance coverage options. There will also be staff members from the Wishard-Eskenazi Health Pharmacy available to take unwanted non-narcotic medication for disposal.
Eskenazi Health Center Cottage Corner provides health care services for the community in the areas of family planning, social services, primary care, mental health and dental services. The center is one of 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.
This year, Wishard-Eskenazi Health has teamed up with the community to host a series of health fairs throughout Indianapolis.
