The Indianapolis 500 champion who was cleared of tax evasion charges will play host to a bed race in Miami’s Coconut Grove neighborhood.
Helio Castroneves will be the grand marshal of the Great Grove Bed Race Sunday, which returns after a nine-year hiatus.
Federal prosecutors had dropped tax evasion conspiracy charges against him in May. That same month he won his third Indianapolis 500. He had also gathered fame after winning TV’s “Dancing With The Stars” competition in 2007.
Sunday’s event organizers say the beds will be judged on theme, decor and creativity.
The bed race is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Commodore Plaza and Grand Avenue, and will benefit the University of Miami Sleep Program and Alonzo Mourning Charities.
