State to Help Minority- and Women-owned Businesses at 2010 MWBEResource Fair & Workshop Series

INDIANAPOLIS (January 22, 2009) – To promote minority business enterprises (MBE) and

women’s business enterprises (WBE), the Indiana Department of Administration’s Minority and

Women’s Business Enterprises Division will host its 2010 MWBE Resource Fair & Workshop

Series on Wednesday, February 24, 2010

“The Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises Resource Fair and Workshop Series is designed

specifically around MBE and WBE vendor community needs,” said Alice Watson, Indiana

Department of Administration Deputy Commissioner. “The resource fair will help qualified MBE and

WBEs find state agencies and organizations that are in need of their services. Together with

targeted workshops, the event will help minority and women owned businesses sustain and grow in

these tough economic times.”

The 2010 MWBE Resource Fair & Workshop Series’ title sponsor is Citizens Energy and is part

trade show and part workshop experience. At the resource fair, minority and women business

owners can speak with purchasing representatives from various state agencies,

universities, casinos and private sector corporations including representatives from the airline

industry, automotive and medical industries. In addition, legal experts and banking professionals

will be available to discuss loan opportunities and other small business resources. There will also

be a Business Plan Assistance Center, where professional representatives will be available to

assist business owners who need help completing their business plan. Workshops are targeted to

meet specific business needs and include:

• The Basics of Certification

• Legally Speaking

• What Is a Bond and Why Do I Need One?

• Does My Personal Credit Score Put Me at Risk When Seeking Business Financing? Tips

on Building and Improving Your Credit Rating

• Making the Winning Bid

Where: Indiana Government Center South Conference Center, Indianapolis, IN

Time: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Cost: Free

Registration: Register until February 18, 2010 at www.in.gov/confreg.

This event is free of charge but limited space is available. Registration is required. Those
