Dear Students,
I am honored to continue serving you as your superintendent this year, and I am excited for your return to school! As we mark our first full year together, I want you to know that meeting and visiting with you has been my pleasure. I have appreciated your feedback on our service, and I hope you will be pleased with what’s staying the same and what’s changing in IPS.
What never changes is how seriously I take the responsibility of leading our school district and guiding all those who are engaged in providing you with the best learning environments and opportunities. As a proud educator and father, I know the importance of education and value my role in ensuring you enjoy your learning experiences.
Another thing that hasn’t changed is how important you are to the transformation of IPS. Your exceptional potential to be whatever you want and dream to be is a responsibility we carry together. Each of your unique voices helps guide my decisions, so you must speak up. You must attend school each day ready to learn and give your best effort, and I must guide and develop those there to work with you. We will grow together, work together; we will hold each other accountable.
What is changing is how open and quick to respond IPS will be in helping you do your best and ensuring you, your families, and your schools have the resources, access and support required for your success. Last year we made strides in a new direction. This year we will feel the difference. Together we will continue to celebrate and take pride in who we are, demonstrate to all the wonderful things we continue to accomplish daily, and amaze anyone who bets against us. Strive to do your best, keep working hard, and I will do the same. I will see you soon!
