Indianapolis comedy club shuts its doors this weekend

More by this author

Morty’s Comedy Joint in Indianapolis, Ind., will forever shut its doors this Sunday, Jan. 3rd.

The club has been in operation since August of 2006 and has seen a wide host of comics cross its stage. Morty’s has had a long tradition of discounted tickets and ticket giveaways, and struggled to operate in the black, reports Indystar.com.

The final comic to perform at Morty’s will be Dan Wilson, who will be headlining two shows on New Year’s Eve with tickets ranging from $30 to $50. He will continue to perform six shows Friday through Sunday at no admission price, and all tabs will be discounted 20 percent.

Many comics and fans alike will be disappointed to see the end of the Sunday Open Mics that followed a free weekly Comedy Clinic. If you’re in the Indianapolis area, check out the final shows. Morty’s is located at 3625 E. 96th St., and you can make reservations at mortyscomedy.com. Be sure to leave a few extra bucks on the table for the wait staff – no one wants to be out of work at this time of year.
