INDIANAPOLIS (Monday, March 26, 2012) – Managed Health Services (MHS) is taking part in the excitement surrounding the Indianapolis 500 as a sponsor of one of its popular pre-race festivities.

MHS is a sponsor of the Chase 500 Festival Rookie Run, which takes place Saturday, May 12, from 1-3 p.m. in downtown Indianapolis at the corner of Ohio and Meridian Streets. All kids ages 3-12 are invited to participate in the Rookie Run, a non-competitive fun run on Kids’ Day encouraging kids to stay physically fit.

The Rookie Run complements the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. All participants in the Rookie Run will receive a goodie bag, a runner’s bib with the number one and a finisher’s medal — just like the Mini-Marathon participants. Onsite registration for the Rookie Run, located in front of the Chase Tower on Ohio Street, begins at 11 a.m. and is $10 on the day of the race.

MHS will be onsite with giveaways and health information on how kids can stay active and healthy. MHS members also have the opportunity to win registrations to participate in the Rookie Run through a poetry and drawing contest. MHS members ages 3-12 are invited to write a poem or draw a picture showing how they stay active and healthy. The top winners will receive a free registration to participate in the Rookie Run.

“The Indianapolis 500 is one of the most significant motorsports events in the world as well as a time-honored tradition,” said MHS CEO Patrick Rooney. “We are honored and excited to be a sponsor of one of the many race-related festivities taking place throughout the month of May. At MHS, we focus on healthy living and wellness, and that certainly ties in to our sponsorship of the Chase 500 Festival Rookie Run, which supports physical fitness in children.”

The Chase 500 Festival Rookie Run is a part of Kids’ Day, the state’s largest outdoor free festival for children. Free and open to the public, Kids’ Day takes place Sat., May 12, from 12-4 p.m. on Monument Circle.

This year’s Kids’ Day theme is “Rev Your Engines,” and the festival will include prizes from dozens of exhibitors, mini-car racing, race-themed arts and crafts, games, face painting, food and entertainment.
