Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but the holiday season can be tough for many, especially with rising prices in the grocery store making holiday dinners pricier than usual. From churches to foodbanks, the Recorder compiled a list of a few places around Indianapolis that will offer free turkeys or full meals for Thanksgiving.
Of course, there are plenty of places giving away free food this holiday season; this list is just a few of them.
Mozel Sanders Foundation
Where: Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1301 N. Goodlet Ave.; Roberts Park United Methodist Church, 401 N. Delaware St.; New Direction Church, 5330 E. 38th St.; and Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 418 E. 34th St.
When: 10 a.m. Nov. 24 until supplies run out
Families will be able to stop by one of these four volunteer locations on Thanksgiving Day to pick up a free meal while supplies last.
Cathedral Kitchen and Food Pantry
Where: Cathedral Kitchen and Food Pantry, 1350 N. Meridian St.
When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 24
Free Thanksgiving dinners, provided by St. Lukeās United Methodist Church, will be available for pickup for those in need until supplies run out.
Good Samaritan Network
Where: White River Christian Church, 1685 N. 10th St., Noblesville; Sheridan Community Center, 300 E. 6th St., Sheridan; and St. Louis De Montfort, 11441 Hague Road, Fishers
When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 24
Drive-thru pickup of Thanksgiving dinners will be available at these Hamilton County Good Samaritan Network locations while supplies last.
25th Pizza & BBQ & The Movement LLC
Where: 2208 E. 25 St., Suite A (The Old PJās BBQ)
When: 2 p.m. Nov. 24 until supplies last
25th Pizza & BBQ and The Movement LLC are joining together for their first Thanksgiving dinner and hygiene giveaway.
Indy Parks Thanksgiving Meal
Where: Watkins Park, 2360 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St.
When: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 24 while supplies last
Community members will be handing out free Thanksgiving meals while supplies last. To have your meal delivered call 317-327-7175.
The Umbrella Center
Where: The Umbrella Center, 1061 E. Southern Ave.
When: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 21
Families in need can pick up a Thanksgiving dinner box, which includes a turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, dessert and canned vegetables. Text 317-680-6165 to reserve your box for pickup.
