The Indiana Energy Assistance Program (EAP) opened applications for assistance with utility bills. The application period will close on April 14, 2025.
To apply, residents will need documents for their last three months of income. Full eligibility is available on the EAP website. Application review can take several weeks.
EAP will apply financial assistance to utility bills (natural gas and electric) and temporary protection from utility disconnection for non-payment. Citizens Energy customers who qualify will automatically receive a 10-25% discount on natural gas bills and a wastewater bill credit.
Beyond EAP, residents can apply for the United Way of Central Indiana’s Winter Assistance Fund (WAF). WAF is designed for Marion County residents who need assistance but may not qualify for EAP. The application can be found at uwci.org/waf or by calling 211. The program period is from Jan. 1, 2025, to May 30, 2025.
Citizens Group compiled a document for financial assistance information for the 2024-25 home-heating season. The document and additional resources for managing utility bills, flexible payment options, budget billing and energy efficient programs can be found online at info.citizensenergygroup.com.
