The Indiana Music History Project has received the largest single grant since its formation from the Allen Whitehill Closed Charitable Foundation.

The grant will fund an oral history collection program, documenting the stories of at least 50 people who have played a part in Indiana’s music history.

“It is incredibly important to document Indiana’s rich music history so that future generations can enjoy it and key elements are not lost,” said Bruce Buchanan, board president of Indiana Entertainment Foundation.

The interviews will include stories from musicians, music businesses and those who have impacted the music scene. Each oral history will be available on the Indiana Music History Project website. There will also be videos and audio excerpts.

Also included in the grant is the first series in a set of Amazing Indiana Music Stores trading cards, which will be available to purchase online and in retail locations across the state.

“We are extremely grateful for this grant,” said Rick Wilkerson, Indiana Music History Project executive director. “It will help us further our mission of documenting Indiana music history and sharing it with Hoosiers and the rest of the nation.”

The project has a public museum gallery in Indy with memorabilia, an audio kiosk and more, as well as travelling exhibitions throughout the year.
