The Indianapolis Colts have unveiled a new alternate uniform that players will wear Week 7 of the 2023 NFL season.
The new Colts uniform features black helmets for the first time in franchise history as well as blue jerseys and pants with “Indiana Nights” lettering. The team says the uniform is inspired by Indianapolis’ nighttime skyline.
The black helmets are a departure from the traditional white helmets that the Colts have worn since their inception in 1953. The new helmets feature a blue horseshoe logo with a white outline. The blue jerseys are also a departure from the traditional white jerseys that the Colts have worn.
The new jerseys feature a blue horseshoe logo on the chest and “Indianapolis” lettering on the back. The pants are also blue with “Colts” lettering on the side.
The Colts will wear the uniform for the first time October 22, when they host the Cleveland Browns at Lucas Oil Stadium. The game will occur at night, which is why the uniform is called “Indiana Nights.”
The Colts are the latest NFL team to unveil a new alternate uniform. In recent years, many teams have introduced new uniforms in an effort to generate excitement among fans.
The black helmets are made of ABS plastic and feature a gloss finish. The blue jerseys are made of 100% polyester and feature a mesh back for breathability. The blue pants are made of 100% polyester and feature a tapered fit. The uniform is also equipped with NFL’s new Next Gen Stats technology, which allows fans to track a player’s movements on the field.
The “Indiana Nights” uniforms already have Twitter in a debate. Some fans like the new look while others think the uniforms are horrendous.
Former quarterback for the Washington Commanders and sportscaster Robert Griffin III jokingly took to Twitter about the new look.
