IndyRent paused applications for rental assistance on June 26.
IndyRent, the city’s primary rental assistance program, resumed submissions on April 27. The IndyRent reboot arrived after a pause on rental assistance last year. IndyRent disbursed approximately $6.7 million in rental and eviction assistance this round.
During the pioneering rounds of assistance, IndyRent did not mandate Hoosiers facing eviction apply for funding.
Despite this, IndyRent required an āactive evictionā for the current round of funding. Applicants could not earn more than $65,500 per family of three.
For the first time since the program’s inception in 2020, seniors receiving pensions or Social Security Benefits were eligible for the most recent round of funding.
Once approved, most recipients received funding within 30 days.
The most recent round of funding allowed Hoosiers to apply for up to six months of rental assistance. This is two times the amount of assistance offered in the previous round.
Landlords pre-registered their properties and complexes with the rental assistance program. In turn, this helped those requesting funding to receive it promptly.
Since the program’s inception, IndyRent has helped approximately 68,000 Hoosiers with their rent. The program disbursed nearly $200 million to Indiana residents, including $4.1 million disbursed over the last two months.
