“Our legislative priorities come at a critical juncture for K-12 education,” said Dr. Aleesia Johnson, IPS Superintendent. “As we continue implementation of the Rebuilding Stronger initiative, which is transforming the educational experience for our 31,000 students, we see these priorities as essential steps to support student success not only in IPS but throughout Indianapolis and the state. The 2025 legislative session offers a key opportunity to advance this vision, ensuring that all students have access to the quality education and support needed to succeed.”
The highlights from the 2025 agenda include:
- Supporting early learning programs.
- Enhancing support for diverse student needs.
- Student health checkups.
- College affordability.

- Reading success for all.
Over the coming months, IPS will work closely with its partners and education leaders to build support for these initiatives, said Dr. Rachel Santos, director of external affairs at IPS.
“Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) serves a diverse range of students and families with unique needs,” Santos said. “It is imperative that IPS uses its voice to advocate for strong, quality education for all students.
