More than $1 million in Western art was sold at the 19th annual Eiteljorg “Quest for the West” Art Show and Sale Sept. 6-7.
More than 350 participants gathered to view and purchase art created by 49 artists.
“As a signature program of the Eiteljorg Museum, the ‘Quest for the West’ Art Show and Sale has raised the museum’s profile nationally as home to one of the top Western art sales and exhibitions in the country,” Eiteljorg President and CEO Kathryn Haigh said.
The opening weekend included two randomly selected fixed-price sales and an awards banquet. The amount sold totaled more than $1 million, with 75% of sales going directly to artists. The remaining proceeds benefit the museum.
Several artists were recognized for their efforts, including:
- Dean Mitchell, Henry Farny Award for Best Painting
- Dave LaMure, Jr., Cyrus Dallin Award for Best Sculpture
- David Griffin, Victor Higgins Award of Distinction
- Dave Santillanes, Artists’ Choice Award
- Bruce Lawes, Patrons’ Choice Award and Miniature Art Show Patrons’ Choice Award
Of the 49 artists who participated, eight were newcomers. The paintings and sculptures featured in the show will remain on display at Eiteljorg until Oct. 6.
