“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses …” Hebrews 12:1
“We are each other’s harvest; We are each other’s business; We are each other’s magnitude and bond.” – Gwendolyn Brooks
Recently I was reminded about the importance of the cloud of witnesses and community that surrounds us.
Each of us have a Community of they …
Do you know your they?
The they that prayed for you
The they that paved the way for you
The they that opened doors for you
The they that kick doors down for you
The they who offered more for you
The they who don’t give you a choice
When they say you need to connect with them
So they can see your face and hear your voice
The they who listen to words spoken and unspoken
The they who you can trust with bonds unbroken
The they who will allow you to be comfortable and provide a safe space to do so
The they who will encourage you to be uncomfortable and provide a brave space for you to be so
The they who will know all about you and love you still
The they who will allow you to be vulnerable and open
The they who are placed in your journey for a lifetime or a season
The they who cheer for you up close and from afar
The they who love you, not for what you have, but for who you are
I am grateful each and every day
For how I am sustained by community of they
The community of they that surrounds me
The community of they that is all around me
The community of they who cheers us on
The community of they that is here and beyond
No person is an island,
We were not designed to navigate this life journey alone
We are sustained by the community of they,
so we don’t have to be on our own.
Grateful each day for the community of they
Grateful for the grace shown in every way for the community of they
They cover me
They protect me
They connect me
They surround me
They sustain me
Remember your they,
