A total of 22 people were shot in different incidents over a three-day period this weekend in Indianapolis. IMPD has confirmed one homicide and that many other victims are in critical condition.
It was the hundredth homicide in the city this year.
Charita Hinkle had just gotten out of the tub when she noticed multiple missed calls from her niece, Audrikka Burr.
Hinkle called her back:
“Auntie Rita, Randy got shot!” Burr screamed through the phone.
Randy is Hinkle’s son.
Family and friends are remembering longtime Marion County Sheriff Office Deputy Tamieka White. She died May 9 while protecting her 8-year-old son during a dog attack in her home, according to officials.
