‘Thin Mint Thursday’: Donate blood for Girl Scout Cookies

Those who donate blood on Thursdays are eligible for free Girl Scout Cookies. 

Versiti Blood Center of Indiana and the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana are teaming up for a unique partnership: Thin Mints® Cookies in exchange for a blood donation. The event, unofficially titled “Thin Mint Thursday,” takes place at participating donor sites across the state on Feb. 29 and March 7.

“We take great pride in supporting initiatives that benefit our community,” Danielle Shockey, CEO of Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, said in a statement. “Whether it’s through programs like Cookies for a Cause or events like the Thin Mint Thursdays, giving back is ingrained in the Girl Scout ethos. Girl Scout cookies and community service are integral to our identity, and we are happy to support Versiti’s life-saving mission.”

Participating donation sites for “Thin Mint Thursday” include the Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Greenwood, Highland, Terre Haute and Lafayette locations. All attempting donors at Versiti Blood Center of Indiana will receive a package of Thin Mints® cookies as a thank you for their contribution. To schedule an appointment, call 1-317-916-5150 or visit versiti.org.

Blood donation takes approximately one hour. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes their date of birth. There are eligibility requirements to be met, but anyone 17 years or older in good health is encouraged to donate. Parental consent is required for any donors aged 16.

“Thin Mint Thursday is more than just a cookie; it’s our heartfelt appreciation for the selfless act of blood donation,” Penny Schroeder, area vice president at Versiti, said in a statement. “We deeply appreciate our collaboration with the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana in this life-saving endeavor, supporting both the health of our community and the empowerment of young girls.”
