Marian University received a donation of $2.5 million from the late John “Jack” and Phyllis Sullivan, dedicated to creating educational opportunities for graduates of Indianapolis Public Schools.
This endowment establishes the John and Phyllis Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will grant two deserving IPS graduates full-tuition coverage for four years, beginning in the 2023-24 academic school year.
The scholarship’s eligibility criteria are centered around financial need, academic achievement and commitment to Marian University’s values.

The late Jack and Phyllis Sullivan were deeply rooted in the Indianapolis community; Phyllis served as a high school teacher at IPS’ Manual High School.
Marian University President Daniel J. Elsener emphasized the significance of scholarships as not just financial aid but also as beacons of hope that illuminate the path toward education.
