The Unrivaled Basketball League revealed its six inaugural coaches Nov 15. The introductory staff, a diverse group of experienced and innovative basketball minds, will help shape the league’s debut season beginning in January.

Phil Handy
Renowned for his player development expertise, Phil Handy earned a reputation as one of the NBA’s top skills coaches. Currently an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, Handy worked with basketball greats like LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, contributing to multiple championship seasons. With over a decade of experience at the NBA level, Handy brings a wealth of understanding and a hands-on approach to player development.
Adam Harrington
A professional player turned coach, Adam Harrington has spent years in the NBA, most notably as an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets. Known for his ability to connect with on-the-court talent, Harrington focuses on shooting mechanics and offensive strategies. His coaching philosophy emphasizes holistic development, balancing technical skills with gameday preparation.
Nola Henry
Joining the Unrivaled league coaching class is Nola Henry, a trailblazer in women’s basketball. A standout point guard during her collegiate career, Henry transitioned into coaching with a focus on empowering the next generation of athletes. Henry’s experience includes stints in grassroots programs and player development roles, where she’s earned praise for her innovative drills and motivational style.
D.J. Sackmann
As a global basketball trainer and performance coach, D.J. Sackmann worked with athletes at every level, from high school prospects to NBA superstars. His training methods, rooted in biomechanics and skill repetition, garnered him a dedicated following. Sackmann’s emphasis on precision and preparation made him a sought-after figure in the basketball community.
Andrew Wade
Another talent joining Unrivaled league coaches is Andrew Wade, who brings a rich background in sports science. A specialist in athletic conditioning and recovery, Wade collaborated with athletes to optimize their performance through individualized programs. His expertise in bridging the gap between physical preparation and on-court execution is expected to be a significant asset.
Teresa Weatherspoon
Last but not least is Teresa Weatherspoon. A Basketball Hall of Famer and former WNBA star, ‘T-Spoon’ is one of the most celebrated figures in the sport. Known for her defensive prowess and charismatic leadership, she has also made a mark as an assistant coach in the NBA. Weatherspoon’s ability to inspire and her deep understanding of the game make her an ideal mentor for players in the Unrivaled league. Weatherspoon’s most recent position was the head coach of the Chicago Sky, ultimately leaving the gig earlier this summer.
The league begins January 2025.
