Ways to ring in the New Year around Indianapolis

The holiday season has come and gone just as quickly as the entirety of the year 2023. 

As you prepare to gather with family, friends and loved ones once more before the new year, we have put together a list of some family- and kid-friendly activities as well as a few adult-centered events to celebrate and ring in the New Year around Indianapolis. 

Saturday, Dec. 30

Noon Year’s Eve

Indianapolis Public Library, Lawrence Branch, 7898 Hague Road

10:30 a.m. to noon

Free

Ring in the New Year early with IndyPL. Featuring activities, crafts games and storytime throughout the library, this family-friendly NYE celebration will lead up to a balloon drop at noon. Registration is not required.

NYE 2024 TAKEOVER!

The Silver Centre Event Hall, 10202 E. Washington St., #Suite 300

9 p.m.-1 a.m.

$10-$20

Featuring a soundtrack by DJ Spudd, this NYE party is aimed at guests 18 years and older. With a special red-carpet entry, balloon drop, confetti, party favors and photo prints with NYE backdrops, guests are invited to come dressed in their “most stylish attire.”

Wreckno’s Big Queer New Year

Deluxe at Old National Centre, 503 N. New Jersey St.

7-11:30 p.m.

Tickets are $35-$41

Celebrate the New Year a day early with Indy Pride. Featuring a performance by 2023 Indy Pride Festival DJ stage headliner Wreckno, prepare to dance the night away in “an atmosphere filled with love and inclusivity” at Deluxe at Old National Centre. After the concert, the party continues at The Patron Saint. Where guests can ring in the New Year during the official Big Queer New Year After Party.

Sunday, Dec. 31

Countdown to Noon

Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, 4000 N. Meridian St. 

10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Tickets are $21-$26.50

Featuring live music from Grammy-nominated musician Zak Morgan, festive headbands, family activities and confetti, families are invited to sing, dance and ring in the New Year at noon. Countdown to Noon is included in admission; free for members.

Family New Year’s Eve 

Indiana State Museum, 650 W. Washington St.

6-8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $18

All three levels of the Indiana State Museum will be open to explore for New Year’s Eve. Along with glittering tattoos, music and a dance party, the Indiana State Museum will have activity stations in the galleries, a photobooth, face painting and rides on the snowfall express. Round out the evening with a balloon drop and a( alcohol-free) countdown to 2023.

Noon Year’s Eve

The Shops at Perry Crossing, 2499 Perry Crossing Way, Plainfield, IN

10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Free

This year, the Shops at Perry Crossing are hosting a Noon NYE celebration at X-Golf Plainfield, with lunch menu options and a full bar for guests 21 and older, DJ music, games and prizes leading up to a balloon drop at noon. Golf simulation bays will be open but reservations to play will need to be made ahead of time.

New Year’s Eve Raven Ball

Nevermore Union Station, 302 S. Meridian St.

9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Tickets are $35

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the annual Raven’s Ball, where guests will get to enjoy an appetizer buffet, two complimentary drinks, a champagne toast and live entertainment from DJ Last Night and others. Ring in 2024 in style with a live ball drop on all of the venue’s televisions.

Rathskeller 2023 New Years Eve Party with The Doo!

Rathskeller Restaurant, 401 E. Michigan St.

7-11:30 p.m.

Tickets are $60

Spend New Year’s Eve dancing, mingling and toasting with friends to the year ahead at Rathskeller Restaurant. Featuring live music and entertainment, food, drinks and a lively atmosphere, this NYE party will be packed with festivities to bid farewell to 2023 and welcome 2024.
